Lord, my cry to Thee
Is to heart Your voice.
Lifting up my hands
As a living sacrifice.
Sending forth my praise.
List'ning to Your ways.
This is my cry, O, God.
Lord, my prayer to Thee
Is to guard my heart.
Guide my ev'ry word
Cleansing each and ev'ry part.
Make my mind be still.
Yielded to Your will.

Lord, my trust in Thee,
Stedfast and secure.
Keep my eyes on Thee,
Thou, my Refuge, safe and sure.

This is my trust, O, God.
The cry moves upward melodically focusing an upward look to the Divine for answers. The rests between phrases create tension, picturing the patience of waiting for a response from the Divine. The simple rhythm shows the simplicity of prayer.
